As a platform, we elevate regenerative art and design and conscious creative realization through different project pillars, including: UNFOLD Editions, Archive, Exhibitions, and Experiences, as well as our UNFOLD Residency program.
Our aim is to champion coexistence, complexity, and confidence in the messy middle, fostering deeper relationships between artists and their practice, individuals and their communities, and people and the places they inhabit.
Our Ethos
The catalyst to our origin story and broader work. Our first Edition in Encinitas will be host to the first UNFOLD Artist Residency. The site—a jewel of Californian organic modernism designed by Shanna Kellogg and Kendrick Bangs Kellogg—shares our working model for adaptive regeneration.
Explore Encinitas
An A-frame nestled among cedar and pine trees, our second Edition is in its first stages of rediscovery to serve as a future host to our next artist residency by 2027. Here, play is potent given the storybook landscape that surrounds it. We are currently forming a regionally based Guild to shape the home’s next chapter.
Explore IdyllwildThe UNFOLD RESIDENCY provides artists across disciplines with the conditions to step outside of the frantic daily cycle of production and into a sphere of self-expansion, working toward a mutual goal of planetary and interpersonal care.
Our Encinitas Edition’s Residency first application cycle is now closed. Our first artist-in-residence will be hosted in late Summer at UNFOLD’s Edition in Encinitas, California. Look out for our next application cycle in late fall 2026 for a Winter 2027 Residency.
Our Residencies
Our residency intentionally prioritizes applications from women, transgender, nonbinary, and gender-marginalized artists, Black, Indigenous, artists of color, and low-income artists.
